MFM EVENTS & INFORMATION

Thank you for checking out the Minnesota Fishing Museum & Education Center in Little Falls, Minnesota! We look forward to hearing from you or seeing you this year! Little Falls is located near the center of the state - 30 miles north of St. Cloud and 30 miles south of Brainerd.

In the state with over 10,000 lakes, we have over 10,000 sq. ft. of showroom space filled with over 10,000 fishing artifacts of all types.

We opened our doors in June 1998...remodeled in 2006...celebrated our 10th anniversary in 2008...and hope to keep going many years to come thanks to all of our museum members, donors and visitors who come from all over Minnesota...the United States...our neighbors in South America and Canada...and people from other parts of our world. Particularly our Sister City visitors from LeBourget, France (where Little Falls famed aviator Charles Lindbergh landed his Spirit of St. Louis airplane after the first solo nonstop flight across the Atlantic Ocean in 1927) and the Norwegian Home Guards who visit Camp Ripley, 7 miles north of Little Falls, every winter.

There is a lot to see and do in Little Falls and the surrounding area so if you have any questions check out the Little Falls Visitors Center web site at www.LittleFallsMN.com or call 1-800-325-5916.

MFM CALENDAR OF EVENTS

SEPTEMBER 12-13 – It’s the annual Little Falls Arts & Crafts Fair on Saturday, September 12th and Sunday, September 13th in the downtown area. The MFM will have a food booth in the food court at the event. It’s mainly a shopping event BUT all are certainly invited to stop in and visit the air-conditioned MFM for a few hours! The museum will host carver Ray Tuholsky both days as he provides live lure carving demonstrations free to the public. Also, in LeBourget Park on the West Side there is the Antique Fair. For further information on this event contact the Little Falls Chamber of Commerce at 320-616-5155.

Another event on Sunday, September 13th is the annual Lone Eagle Auto Club Show and Swap Meet at the fairgrounds, 7am to 4pm.

OCTOBER 15-17: Plan to attend our annual Fall Garage Sale fundraising event. We will have sporting goods and fishing equipment, appliances, household goods, vinyl records, toys, books, antiques and collectibles, and so much more (but no clothing).
Hours: Thursday & Friday, October 15 & 16 from 8am-5pm
Saturday, October 17 from 8am-2pm

SCHOOL TOURS: We are pleased to welcome school groups for tours year around whether touring as a part of your planned curriculum (history, art, ecology, biology), a reward for good behavior, or a year end field trip. Give the museum a call to discuss your visit so we can provide programming to fit your educational goals.

The end of April and most of May we host many end-of-the-school-year group tours. If you are a teacher and interested in bringing your class to Little Falls you can schedule a couple of local tours for the same day – for example: stop by the MFM for a 30- 45 minute tour then head west 6 blocks to Pine Grove Zoo and Park where you can have your picnic lunch, tour the newly re-modeled Zoo, and have some play time before heading home. Or, you can also schedule tours at Charles Lindbergh Center and Boyhood Home...Lindbergh State Park...7 miles north of Little Falls to tour the Minnesota Military Museum and the Camp Ripley Environmental Center plus other attractions. You can contact each at-traction for reservations or the Little Falls Convention & Visitors Bureau web site at www.LittleFallsMN.com or call 1-800-325-5916.

A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA…

Let’s Go Fishing-Little Falls Chapter: The MFM is the host of the Let’s Go Fishing-Little Falls Chapter. This program provides FREE fishing and boating excursions as an activity for senior citizens – anyone over 55. The chapter provides a safe boat or pontoon, experienced fishing guide and assistants, all the equipment needed and a snack! If you are 55 and over, and plan on being in the Little Falls area around June through September (weather permitting) and would like to see if there is an outing scheduled at that time, contact the MFM at 320-616-2011. To see if there is a Let’s Go Fishing Minnesota chapter near YOU go to: www.letsgofishingofmn.com.

WELCOME VISITORS!
We hope to see you at the MFM this year.
